Thursday, February 16th, from 5:00 to 6:00 pm in the Fiction Room
This week we will be sharing the book Octavia Butler’s Kindred.
Butler takes time travel, one of speculative fiction’s oldest and most overdone premises,
and infuses it with lasting depth and power. Where stories about American slavery are
often gratuitous, reducing its horror to explicit violence and brutality, “Kindred” is
controlled and precise. – Stephen Kearse, The New York Times
Light refreshments will be served.
