Rotunda Gallery Exhibit

Rotunda Gallery: Library in Partnership with Arts of Westchester

Mission Statement
The mission of the Rotunda Gallery is to provide outstanding visual arts exhibitions and workshops to the Mount Vernon community while enabling the public library to enrich the cultural life of the city.
Background
Mount Vernon Public Library, in partnership with ArtsWestchester, launched the Rotunda Gallery in 2008 with seed money from the National Endowment for the Arts. The library serves as the major cultural resource in Mount Vernon, a small, densely populated urban center in the southern tier of Westchester County, New York. The Rotunda Gallery makes exhibitions of high artistic merit easily accessible to Mount Vernon residents. In addition to showcasing work by artists who live in Mount Vernon, the gallery features work by artists from the region and exhibitions that originated at galleries and museums throughout Westchester, including the Neuberger Museum and the Blue Door Gallery. An exhibition committee reviews proposals and determines the exhibition schedule: Generally, ArtsWestchester and the library develop a series of workshops for children and teenagers and community programs that enhance the experience of viewing an exhibition.

Paintings and Artwork by Jesse Sanchez

My goal is to create an art of deep feeling and empathy for the world. I hope that engaged viewers will value my efforts and appreciate my work for its import and invention. I believe my art holds diverse elements together, creating a common ground where love, life, and art are purposed in the search for truth in visual forms.
