Mount Vernon Public Library Accepting Essential Non-Monetary Donations for Displaced Families
The Mount Vernon Public Library (MVPL) is accepting new, unopened, non-monetary donations to support more than 200 residents displaced from 30 Cottage Avenue and 45 Park Avenue, respectively.
Requested donation items (new and unopened only):
- Diapers and baby wipes
- Disposable wipes / sanitary wipes
- Feminine hygiene essentials
- Bar soap and liquid soap
- Deodorant
- Lysol or disinfectant spray
- Shampoo and conditioner
- Toothpaste and toothbrushes
- Paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags
- School supplies
- iPhone chargers and Android chargers
Please note: Due to current storage, and staffing limitations, MVPL can only accept the items listed above.
With the exception of reusable shopping bags and cellphone chargers, we are unable to accept:
- Food of any kind
- Clothing of any kind
- Sheets, pillows, or bedding of any kind
- Electronics of any kind
- Opened or used items of any kind
The Board of Trustees, Mount Vernon Public Library extends its heartfelt support to every family directly impacted by the tragic events of November 23, 2025.
We are deeply grateful to the American Red Cross, City of Mount Vernon, local houses of worship, nonprofit organizations and donors, volunteers near and far, and to all who have assisted the Mount Vernon Fire Department in ensuring the safety of our now-displaced neighbors.
