Statement Regarding Unauthorized Public Representations About Mount Vernon Public Library
The Board of Trustees and Executive Director of the Mount Vernon Public Library are aware that a former employee has recently made public statements and has referred to herself as an “advocate” for the Mount Vernon Public Library.
Some recent public statements made by this former employee about the Library are inaccurate and should not be considered official information; we want to clarify the following for our community:
- This individual is not currently employed by the Mount Vernon Public Library.
- This individual is not appointed by, retained by, or authorized by the Board of Trustees or the Executive Director to speak on behalf of the Library.
- The Board of Trustees has not designated any individual or group as the Library’s “advocate” or official representative other than its officers and duly authorized staff.
All official information and statements about Library operations, policies, finances, and governance are issued only through:
- The Board of Trustees (through the Board President or other designated officer), and
- The Executive Director or his or her authorized designees.
Members of the public who wish to obtain accurate information about the Mount Vernon Public Library are encouraged to:
