MVPL: “ There For Me … ” April 17, 2017
You see … it was late February 2014 that I found myself without a “working”
Computer. My trusted, dependable GATEWAY 300S desk-top computer that
I had for 10 years – had been STRIPPED-CLEAN . My 90 year-old Momma,
Who lives in Florida bought me that computer. Momma –cleaned a whole lot of houses & washed a lot of toilets to pay for that GATEWAY computer. I loved & cherished it so very much! It was very special to me.
I mean … just after I’d sent it out (on the strong suggestions of a friend) to get a
“minor -update” from WINDOWS XP to WINDOWS 7 . My Gateway 300s desk-top was returned to me, … STRIPPED OF EVERYTHING. I felt violated.
Not honoring my request … that: “nothing be removed from or taken out of my beloved desk-top was painful.” I was completely devastated & depressed about this unhappy and unfortunate experience for a few years. Yes … I was definitely not happy about that! But now, I’m happy again you see ,The MVPL is there for me.
Fortunately I found out that the MVPL had a COMPUTER LAB-ROOM, where
I could come to the library, use the computers, and WITH – OUT cost! I learned
about USB’s= flash drives that I could purchase at the guidance of the MVPL’s “tech-staffers”. I learned how to store my documents safely and on the NICE & DEPENDABLE Computers there. Just waiting to serve my every literary & tech needs. That’s a Good thing. Now … I’m happy again you see … the Mount Vernon NY Public Library is there for me, and it’s there for anything you need & want to do … it’s TRUE. Residents and “Out-of- Townspeople”, everyone and … anything you need & want to do … too ! So I thank you MVPL …thank you!
