FREE SHREDDER EVENT
Mount Vernon, NY –Residents can bring disused documents to the library parking lot where they will be shredded for free. This popular community event is an opportunity for residents to dispose of old documents and disused paper in a clean and environmentally safe manner. We encourage everyone to join us and please adhere to directions coming from library staffers.
Some quick guides to keep in mind:
• Residents must remain in their vehicles at all times.
• Documents should not be placed in plastic bags, but should be in boxes and/or paper bags.
• Boxes and/or paper bags containing documents should be placed in the trunk/hatchback of the resident’s vehicle, if possible, or in the back seat of the resident’s vehicle.
• All binder clips, large staples, three-ring binders, paper clips, metal of any kind, plastic covers, plastic bags, or any other non-paper material should be removed prior to arriving at the event.
• Staff will remove the box(es) directly from the resident’s vehicle and place them in the shredder mechanism.
• Vehicles will be queued at a safe distance from staff and only one vehicle will be serviced at a time.
• Please be mindful to observe all posted signage and directions from staff.
